Thermodynamics of Non-Ideality and Ion-Association in Saturated Aqueous Solution of Barium Nitrate at 25° C
Using Solvent Evaporating and Atomic Emission Spectrophotometric methods, the solubility of Ba (NO3 )2 inwater at 25.0 ° C was determined. Activity coefficients, f+ and f_ of Bat) and N0i(aq) ions in the saturatedsolution at 25.0 ° C were estimated upon the extended Debye —Hiickel theory and then, the constantK'sp =[Ba2+1f+ [NO-3 ]2 f 2 was evaluated. Comparing the value of thermodynamic solubi...
متن کاملPolymer Solution Thermodynamics:
Up to this point we have considered polymer chains in solvent at various concentrations. In dilute solution, we observed that the segmental density is localized around the center of mass of the coils; the local concentration gradient experienced by each chain drives the swelling of the coils. By contrast, in polymer melts, this swelling force is exactly cancelled by analogous forces exerted by ...
متن کاملPolymer Solution Thermodynamics:
For concentrated polymer solutions, the free energy of mixing can be described through a “regular solution” model, such as that set forth by Flory, for a mixture of nc polymers and ns solvent molecules. To understand how the model breaks down for lower concentrations, it will be helpful to review its essential features. It is convenient to derive such a model using a lattice construct, though t...
متن کاملImproved Dynamic Model for an Unsaturated Polyester Process by Non-ideal Thermodynamics
An extended dynamic model is presented for a polyesterification reaction in a semi-batch wise operated vessel connected to a distillation column. The developed model describes the effect of polymerization on reactants. The model also contains kinetics describing the change of rate order during the reaction. To improve the predictive capabilities, the model has been extended with advanced thermo...
متن کاملRelativistic quantum thermodynamics of ideal gases in two dimensions.
In this work we study the behavior of relativistic ideal Bose and Fermi gases in two space dimensions. Making use of polylogarithm functions we derive a closed and unified expression for their densities. It is shown that both type of gases are essentially inequivalent, and only in the non-relativistic limit the spinless and equal mass Bose and Fermi gases are equivalent as known in the literature.
